Provenance

Cony Art Antiques, 19 Tanglin Road, Singapore 

A fine and large underglaze blue jardinière, painted in around the exterior with cheery scenery of flying bird, lingzi (mushroom) flowery plants among the main theme of three friends of winter, Plum, Bamboo and Pine, symbolism of long life and steadfastness, the rim with a band of classical scroll and flower spray. The base unglazed exposing a fine whitish body.

 

Ming Dynasty, 16th Century.
