A superb Restauration gilt bronze and cut glass sweet-meat stand piece by Thomire, stamped with the maker's mark.

On a squared base with front circular step, ornamented with a Neptune mask and a cockle-shell and pair of flanking dolphins supporting the lower glass tier. With a kneeling figure of a young Triton supporting the centre tier and fluted tapering colums above to support the top tier, surmounted by a cockle shell handle

After Pierre-Philippe retiered in 1823, his sons carried on his business. Among their fine work were a number of pieces in the Renaissance style of which this is a prime example.
