Léon de Groër "Les Arts Décoratifs de 1790-1850" illustrating a painted fauteuil in the Bibliothèque Municipal de Lyon, of similar design with arms terminating in Egyptian style leopardess heads and similar legs with paw feet.

A fine set of four Empire mahogany fauteuils by Jean-Baptise-Bernard Demay. The scrolled arm terminating in carved leopardess heads, on curved supports above a gently bowed seat rail, on square tapering legs, terminating in lion paw feet.

 

Paris, date circa 1805

Height 91 cm, width 61 cm, depth 53 cm each
