Paris, date circa 1710
Height 44 cm, 48 cm. square each.

During Louis XIV’s reign there was a rigid etiquette, which prescribed who were and were not allowed to sit on tabourets at Court. The distinction of sitting on a tabouret was eagerly sought after.
