An exceptionally fine quality Rococ style solid silver figural centrepiece by Aucoc, with shell shaped dish and putti beneath,
Paris, date circa 1890
Lenght 55 cm
Aucoc was one of the top French silver-manufacturing firms of its day. Like others the firm was strongly influenced by earlier historical styles. "Louis Quatorze, Louis Quinze and Louis Seize – these are all the rage" noted one critic in the "Watchmaker, Jeweller and Silversmith", 1889, p. 44. Aucoc exhibited at a number of the international fairs including an exhibition at St. Petersburg, 1902 organised by the Comté François de Exposition à l'Etranger.
