A very rare pair of Regency amethyst and silver-gilt mounted claret jugs by Reily and Storer

London, dated 1830

Fully hallmarked.

Height 30 cm. each.

Charles Reily and George Storer's partnership began in 1829. Together they produced superb quality pieces in a fascinatingly varied and eclectic range of designs. Charles Reily was the son of Mary and John Reily, who were both London silversmiths. After his father's death Charles went into partnership with his mother in Carey Lane - the same address from which he and Storer first operated. Reily and Storer continued in partnership until at least 1840; during the latter years they specialised in the production of snuffboxes and other small pieces.
